Natasha of Snow Black Blog!
International blogger Snow Black has lived everywhere – Africa, North America and now Europe! We caught up with this wandering beauty to find out about how she got into blogging, her favorite designers and style icons, and her super-organized closet. Not to mention-- she was also recently featured by one of our favorite magazines, ARISE! Check her out here and at SnowBlackBlog.com
I-ELLA: Where are you from?
Snow Black: I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in South Africa. I then moved to Canada and have been living in London for 2 years.
I-ELLA: How did you start your career in fashion? How did you come about creating a blog?
Snow Black: I got into fashion through modelling. When I moved to London from Vancouver to work full time, I discovered blogs through magazine articles. I then decided to start one and take it from there.
I-ELLA: How would you define your personal style?
Snow Black: It changes depending on my mood. I do like simple, well-tailored clothing. I love Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Acne, Chloe, Rick Owens, etc. – those type of designers, but I am also incorporating print and color into my wardrobe. I can dress preppy one minute, tomboyish the next. I may as well take advantage of being young and wearing what I want before the time comes when I need to “dress my age,” as they say.
I-ELLA: What is one fashion must-have?
Snow Black: A beautiful leather jacket. I know most people will say a well-tailored blazer, which is important of course, but I think women should also invest in a good leather jacket.
I-ELLA: Who is your favorite designer and why?
Snow Black: I have a few, amongst them Chloe, Acne and Lanvin. It goes back to what I said about the tailoring of their clothes. They make [it] look simple to most people, but there is the attention to detail in the way the fabric is cut, which is important.
I-ELLA: Who are your style icons?
Snow Black: The Olsen twins, Thandie Newton and Olivia Palermo, to name a few!
I-ELLA: What's the most important piece of fashion advice you've ever been given?
Snow Black: If you are going to buy something, think of the many things already in your wardrobe that it will go with. There is no point in buying something that doesn't go with anything in your closet. Then you have to go and buy an entire outfit around that one item.
I-ELLA: How often do you edit your closet? Do you have any tips for our members?

Snow Black: I edit my closet around the sales! I go through what I don't want and if I can sell it, I'll use that money towards shopping. When it comes to arranging my clothes I go from dark to light and by category (dresses long, then short; blazers; shirts; small tops, then skirts, etc). I am obsessed with wooden hangers!
I-ELLA: Whose closet would you love to raid?
Snow Black: If I could, it would have to be the Olsen twins' closet.
I-ELLA: Could you share your three fashion rules to live by?
Snow Black: I don't have any rules but just be yourself, and wear whatever, so long as it fits you properly please. Get it tailored or leave that thing on the store rail if they don't have it in your size!
